“EAS Members, Terra Nova Collaborators, Gardeners…”

Edison Arts Society Visual Artists Members turned out in force to assist as hosts and to exhibit work.  Alan Rosenberg and Donna Muscynski served as the official photographers for the day, documenting the event.  We were so grateful to the hospitality of the homeowner / gardeners.  As always, videographer Eddie Cologna spent the day interviewing gathering footage for the Tour Presentation to be aired on ETV.

“The ART in the Gardens…”

Artwork of every discipline filled the six gardens:  paintings, live music, poetry, and performance.  The “Master Artist Impersonators” were a genuine highlight with six different college student EAS interns taking on the role of Master Artists and interacting with the visitors “in character”.

“Tots on Tour…”

Billed as a “child-friendly” event, the Tour attracted a number of young children.

An Art in the Garden Tour Thank you

A special thank you to Linda Vonderschmidt-LaStella and Denise Riordan, Co-Chairs of the Art in the Garden Tour, for their superb expertise and commitment to making the tour such a tremendous success. In addition, we would like to thank the wonderful gardeners, whose homes were graciously shared with us, as well as the dedicated committee members, hosts, the Terra Nova Garden Club, and the coterie of performing, visual, and gardening artists and educators, who shared their diverse talents with us all. The day was a glorious success because of all of them.

Fourth Annual Art In the Garden Tour

Six residential gardens, in Edison and Metuchen, will be open to the public on Saturday, July 18, 2009 for the Fourth Annual “Art in the Garden Tour”. From its beginning, the tour has been a popular local event that has grown to attract visitors from around the state. Tickets are $20 and cover admission to all six gardens plus refreshments. Children under 10 are Free!

This year, the Terra Nova Garden Club of Edison will be assisting us as Hostesses in each garden.
Our theme “Tots On Tour” includes activities, song and poetry designed for young children. At the starting location, each child that finds a magic blue pebble and tosses it into the “Make a Wish Fountain “ will receive a nature inspired craft to take home! Mom, Dad, Grandparents bring the little ones with you!

The gardens, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., showcase different styles, from a lovingly self tended garden in the heart of town to a large, professionally developed space. Sponsored by the Edison Arts Society, a ten-year-old arts organization that supports a variety of art disciplines, the event is distinctive in that each garden on the Tour includes live music and poetry along with an exhibit of visual art. College Interns of the EAS will offer an interactive performance in each garden, impersonating Master Artists and briefly discussing the work of that artist.

Meet Dr. Jim Conroy “The Tree Whisperer” and Ms. Basia Alexander, General Manager, Tree Whispering Coach and Green Centrics Teacher. Dr. Conroy followed a childhood love of plants all the way through a B.S. in Horticulture from Delaware Valley College in Pennsylvania to his Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Purdue University in Indiana. All during his 25+ years in Fortune 100 corporations, he promoted tree and plant health in both research and marketing.www.TheTreeWhisperer.com

Members of Edison’s Terra Nova Garden Club and the Edison Arts Society will serve as hosts in each garden.
