The Visual Arts Discipline is proof that the arts arts are alive and well in Central Jersey! It has been a vital and dynamic part of the Edison Arts Society since its beginning and has helped the organization to grow dramatically!
With its commitment to supporting and assisting artist-members, the Discipline has developed a whole series of opportunities for exhibition, professional development, and artist-to-artist sharing and mentoring. Because it understands the EAS as an artist-centered organization,we have established the Visual Arts Steering Committee: eight members with a three-year commitment who meet two or three times a year, and who brainstorm ideas for new and creative ways to meet the needs of our artist members and to establish the visual arts programming for each subsequent year. (Check the Calendar for all of the events scheduled for this year.)
Exhibit Opportunities range from formal shows in white-walled galleries, to non-traditional spaces like the Edison Municipal Building and in local residential gardens as part of the Art in the Garden Tour. The opportunity to plan and develop his or her own one-person show is offered to every member through the Foyer Gallery program.
Additionally, we offer art classes to members and the community at large, as well as plein air painting sessions in the warm months.
