Rae O'SheaVisual ArtistRae O'Shea is a self-taught artist with over 20 years of experience in various mediums but specializing in watercolors and acrylics. A few years ago she began working exclusively with oils, after attending a workshop with Stapelton kearns in the artist colony of Rockport, MA. Rae is primarily a plein aire painter of landscapes and seascapes, although she also does still life and figurative work. She believes that painting from nature is the best teacher. "It is a constant challenge in the face of changing light conditions, weather, bugs, terrain, curious people and wildlife, but it is also intensely satisfying!" Rae is a member of the Edison Arts Society, the Catharine Lorillard Art Club in Manhattan, the Society of the American Impressionist, Oil Painters of America, Allied Artists of America and the Somerset Art Association. Rae is also a committee member for the Edison Arts Society's "Gardens of the Garden State" Art and Photography exhibit, being presented at Menlo Park Mall's Center Court in April 2005. She has volunteered her services on this committee for two years and her help has been invaluable to the success of this exhibit. Her work "Rockport Surf" was chosen by the jury in October 2004 to appear on the front of the EAS Art Gallery invitation for the current "Circles and Squares" exhibit at the Sheraton Edison Hotel. The jury for this exhibit included Charles Taggar McVicker, Princeton NJ and Anthony Ventura in Neptune, NJ.
